RE: Extended Warranty Yes or No

I have a 7 year warranty thru Freedom Roads, now Camping World.....so far they fixed every problem for no cost to me.....Still have 5 years left....not only does it cover my MH but it covers my Freightliner chassis and my Cummins Diesel too thru the 7 years.....I'm happy!
The decision to get the extended warranty all depends on what you are willing to pay for to fix your MH if something breaks....
A new fridge is about $3,000+
A new stove is about $2,000
a slid eout motor is $2,000+
a roof AC is about $1000+
Hydralic Jacks are about $4,000+
A roof leak....could mean many $$$
etc & etc
I sould add I never buy extended warrantys on anything else...but for a MH...I believe it's worth every penny.....
Had one on my 04 Southwind....and have every thing fix on it for no cost to me....also.

RE: Retail to Retail Deal

When I did my trade in Dec 06...I had a beautiful GAS MH for trade....I knew what they were selling for and what the dealer can get out it....(not hard to do).... I didn't care about the MRSP, or the dealer discount off MRSP....all I as dealing was a $$ difference with my trade...I stood my ground and the dealer tried to get me to give away my 3 yr old MH....I refused......It was a difficult deal...but he did come to my exact number.....when he did...the wife said "now you have to buy it"....I really didn't think he would get to that number ever..and he did...so I did.....there is no other way to deal....you need to have in your mind the reasonable difference......otherwise you will be number fooled or should I say dollar fooled. BTW...he sold my old MH the next week....Hmmm!
I figure that 08 Eagle should go for about $370,000 cash.....I suggest you figure it from there......... if he wants $240,000 + your MH then you're getting about $130,000 for your old MH....if you think that is reasonable.....buy the eagle.....I would NOT.
He'll take your old MH and sell it for $170-175,000 for another $40,000 on the otherside of the deal.....he did good, and you got your MH.
Therefore: The dealer nets about $410,000 total on a $535,000 MRSP MH...(the goal for the buyer is the figure out how low he is willing to let his net $$$$ go down to, it looks like there is lots of room there to me....I bet about another $30,000+ for you.
What you need to answer to yourself.....not me or anyone on the forum....is this....Is it worth the $240,000 to move up to a one year old Eagle? Which will be two years old next summer.
The old saying is "most MHs are worth 50% of purchase price at year 5!"
You posted that you paid $215,000 for your Vectra....so I figure you will take about an $85,000 hit for driving your present MH for two years....Hmmmm!...(about 40% depreciation).....I would keep the Vectra...since the next three years your depreciation will not be as steep....and it's a nice MH anyway.......

RE: Keyless Entry

Well, well....I'll tell you a funny story.....had some service on my Mh done....well, no problem it went well. When the service guy brought out my MH from the service bay and parked it in front of the place he left the key in the ignition....I paid my bill...went out and my Mh was locked!!!!!! My key and my keyless remote was in the MH.....Oh no! ( i have no idea what happened....never did that before)
I was 800 miles from my second set of keys.....the nearest Winie dealer was 7 hours away.......so! I called Coachnet, they sent a locksmith in 30 minutes....took him 4 minutes to pick the lock.....so Coachnet saved the day.....again!I would have walked back in a strangled him,, most folks that work on thiese things everyday know better. I would at least have them get thier own
What was getting mad and upset going to do....it happened...my mind was on fixing the problem ASAP....I wanted to get going....we were headed to Disney World....Just needed to get in and get drivingThe wife and the dog was nervous enough for all of us...I had to get the job done..(get in the MH...fast)....Coachnet was wonderful!

I'm curious, does the coach have a keypad? I routinely leave the coach with all the keys locked inside and use the keypad to get in. I have a magnetic key box hidden incase something goes wrong with the system etc.
No keypad on the Ellipse...but Coachnet was excellent with a great response time....
It happened back in 2001 when we drove the Blazer to Charolette,NC....we stopped at a motel.....well we closed the door locked the keys in the blazer by accident..Had my Coachnet card in my wallet....lucky me......Called Coachnet....had my Blazer opened in 40 minutes.....great service and covers all the vehicles.

RE: Idling a Diesel

This is a very confusing thread.....all I know is what Cummins says....try not to idle beyond 10 minutes.....Have I idled longer?

I remember the day I took home my first Class A MH....brand new.
My 1999 Storm.....the exhaust heat shield fell off driving home from the dealer....Haa, Haa!....Simple...three screws....fixed....it all started on day one.....still after three MHs, 10 years, and lots of $$$....something always happens.....this past trip, my fresh water/winterized valve cracked (plastic)....{I love plastic parts}...oh well.....simple fix....a few more $$.

RE: Does the problems ever stop???

We all have little problems...here and there....
What you don't want is a big one.
Very few MHs never had a problem
Just remember...up keep and repairs are part of the RVing Experience...as it is with a pleasure boat, plane, ATV, race car, etc & etc.
Here is a hint...I've been doing this for the past 10 years....during the year as things are acting up, or break,....keep a list, then sometime in the winter bring it in for repairs....it usually gets done a a day or two.....since the repair shops are idle in winter.....hopefully it's not something major that needs immediate repair.
